[Affected versions]:

  • Firefox Nightly 78.0a1 Build ID 20200512093421;
  • Firefox Beta 77.0b4 Build ID 20200511090718;
  • Firefox Release 76.0.1 Build ID 20200507114007;

[Affected Platforms]:

  • Windows 10;
  • Mac OS 10.14;
  • Ubuntu 18.04 x64;

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Load a page that require FxA login;
  2. Type a valid e-mail and continue;
  3. Select the auto-generated password suggestion;
  4. Observe password behavior;

[Expected result]:

  • There are no errors or glitches.

[Actual result]:

  • The password is shown/hidden based on the “eye” icon click.

[Notes]:

  • Eye icon has different and incorrect states.
  • Both fields should manifest the same behavior.

Yes, this is intentional, it's a feature of password generation. Long term I hope to make website password visibility toggles obsolete since browsers are building this in. Our fix is bug 502258.
