Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0
Steps to reproduce:
On a Mac, open Firefox Preferences and select some text, eg the "General" heading or (part of) the text label associated with a checkbox. Press Cmd+C to copy the text to the clipboard. Then try to paste the text elsewhere.
Actual results:
Nothing happens when I press Cmd+C, and when I paste I get whatever was already in the clipboard before.
Expected results:
I should see the "Edit" menu heading flash when I press Cmd+C, and the highlighted text should be copied to the clipboard. The fact that the text can be highlighted exacerbates the problem, because it misleadingly implies that it should be copiable. Could that even be considered a security risk (users might accidentally paste sensitive info)?
The Linux version doesn't seem to have this bug, but I haven't tested Windows.
Hi Tony,
Thanks for your report.
I was able to reproduce the behavior reported in Mac OSX 10.15, Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 on the latest Firefox Nightly 78.0a1 (2020-05-19) (64-bit)
I'll choose a component so the corresponding team can review this and advice.
Core: DOM: Selection team: if this ticket is not under your scope, please route to the team who can review it.
Thanks!

Most of the time I can reproduce the issue on Ubuntu 20.04 with current Nightly, but once it worked after clicking around a lot and selecting different texts, including from right to left. When it doesn't work, when right-clicking the "Copy" button is grayed out.
