Steps to reproduce:

i moved to a new os and firefox installation, synchronised firefox account

Actual results:

i see that https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/h/ that was on address bar top and new tab top is removed from there. also, when i manually added it to new tab top, it appeared after some time on address bar top, and when i unpinned it, it disappeared again from both of the places

Expected results:

it should not disappear

Can you give us more detailed steps?
I am trying to figure out what is the problem exactly : bookmarked tab, pinned tab, etc.

new title given by andre klapper is not as correct as original title. gmail is not deleted only once after big synchronising to a fresh installation, it is constantly deleted and not allowed to appear on top, unless i pin it in the top sites.

andrei purice, if you try to open a url several times, like 10 or 20 times in a short time, like several minutes or less, it should appear in top sites and in address bar top suggestions, i am not sure, but ff used to behave this way. but the gmail url seems banned, it will not appear, at least, in my installation, firefox 76.0 on ubuntu mate 19.10.

i am not sure what happens if you add it manually to top sites, but do not pin it immediately.

as i remember i should test it with addons disabled, before i report bug. but i have not done this. i hope addons are not involved, and this report is useful. maybe i cannot test it with this profile, but i know i can test it with a fresh profile. but now i am going to wait, maybe, andrei purice will confirm it.

i am sitting in ff 76.0.1 and i see that https://mail.google.com/mail/ has appeared in top sites on new tab incidentally, and i started using it. it has not appeared in blank url bar suggestions yet.

now i see that it (gmail that appeared as i said in previous comment, 1 day ago) has moved to more top position, and its url is changed to https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/ . i did not know that url in top sites can change this way, without {losing position / starting to gain its rating from 0 or some other minimum or default}.

nearly a week ago https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/ also has come to address bar suggestions. (so, my problem is solved, by a workaround).

but my original report was about https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/h/ , maybe it was not a bug, but a special behavior in agreement with google.
