Attached video fire.mp4

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0

Steps to reproduce:

Since maybe two months it happens sometimes. Dont know how to reproduce, tried it for almost a week but it seems that it happens randomly.
I open a new tab or close a tab. Do my things. Then I switch to another tab by clicking with my mouse on it.

Actual results:

Sometimes if I click with my mouse on the tab and move at the same time my mouse for very few pixels up or down the tab detaches and opens in a new window. But only if I have clicked on the text of the tab.

Happened in my video in minute 0:04
Thats what is annoying because it can happen everytime.

Expected results:

The tab should not detach if I am moving it just a few pixels up or down. When there are no problems tabs only detach if I move them far (lets say about 20 pixels...)

Note: This happens almost EVERY time if I click on the tab directly under the text and move it. For example in my video at 0:14, 0:20, 0:22 and 0:25

I know that I can turn detach off in about:config but sometimes I really want to detach a tab.

Summary: accidently detaching tabs - very sensitive → Too easy to accidentally detach tabs under Microsoft Windows

Hi,

Since this is not an actual bug because is the expected result for the behavior you mention above, I'm changing this ticket to an enhancement in case the team can adjust this feature.
Also I'm setting component to Firefox - New Tab Page and status to NEW for someone to take a look at this.

Thanks.

Okay thank you. My behavior in the video by clicking on the tab and moving it a lot of times and far down is exaggerated. I did it so you can better understand what I want you to tell because my english vocabular is not good.
You know sometimes if you use your mouse and click on something you move your mouse unconsciously slightly. Click on the tab, move it unconsciously a very little and sometimes it detaches. Thats when it happens.

I am using Firefox for more than 12 years. Thats why I can tell that this is a new problem. It never happend before. ;)

Thank you. :)

Component: New Tab Page → Tabbed Browser

Seconded – with an older Firefox version this never happens, but with somewhat more recent(ish) builds I've had this happen often enough to be noticeable.
