Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Display a folder with more than one message and for which no message has as yet been selected. 2. With the shift key pressed, select (say) the last message. 3. All messages from the first one to the last one appear to be selected, but in fact none are as evidenced by the fact that no action (such as delete) works on the group. Actual Results: Multiple messages are displayed as selected, but in fact, none are. Expected Results: When selecting a message with the shift key pressed in a folder in which no previous message has been selected, only the one message clicked on should be shown as selected.

Pretty wild bug. Still extant in 1.4b. Confirming. By "in fact, none are" reporter is observing that pressing Del will not delete them, right-clicking and selecting Delete will not delete them, right-clicking and selecting Move will not move them, etc. There are quite a few bug to be found searching on "multi select" and a few on "shift select" but I couldn't find any actual dupes.

Duplicate was Linux, so updating OS. Would like to know if this is an issue for Macs. Symptom also exists in Thunderbird, 0.8, Win2K.

Still exists in 1.0.6 on MS Windows XP SP2. Bug 213983 seems to be a duplicate of this bug (I just got an "auto-resolve01" message on 213983, so I thought it would be a good idea to refresh a version of the bug...).

(In reply to comment #5) > Still exists in 1.0.6 on MS Windows XP SP2. But not with 1.5b1, which is the *minimum* release you should have tested with before commenting. Behavior (in Thunderbird only) has changed due to the fix for bug 280153. Symptom still seen in Seamonkey 1.0a-0806.
