This bug tracks the telemetry team's work to aid in migrating legacy Firefox for iOS metrics to Glean. The initial integration has already been completed, so this leaves the remaining steps from the Glean migration checklist:

Marissa was so kind as to share this doc which covers some of the questions that Fx-iOS product team seeks to answer.

Marissa is also working to make our metrics more consistent across products (such as Fenix), so her input on the metrics migration process will be important.

Whiteboard: [telemetry:glean-rs:m?]

Ashley shared this doc that describes the desired tracking for existing features.

Comment on attachment 9163209 [details] Fx-iOS Data Review.md 1. Is there or will there be documentation that describes the schema for the ultimate data set in a public, complete, and accurate way? Yes, this will be documented at https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-ios/blob/main/Docs/metrics.md 2. Is there a control mechanism that allows the user to turn the data collection on and off? Yes, users can opt out of telemetry. 3. If the request is for permanent data collection, is there someone who will monitor the data over time? Not permanent data collection. 4. Using the category system of data types on the Mozilla wiki, what collection type of data do the requested measurements fall under? Category 2, Interaction Data. 5. Is the data collection request for default-on or default-off? Default on. 6. Does the instrumentation include the addition of any new identifiers? This includes a client_id, but this is the same identifier we have been collecting previously. No new identifiers. 7. Is the data collection covered by the existing Firefox privacy notice? Yes. 8. Does there need to be a check-in in the future to determine whether to renew the data? Check in on 2021-07-01. 9. Does the data collection use a third-party collection tool? No, will be collected using Glean, an internal tool. ----- data-review +
