Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

Current Firefox has the following configurations at "about:config" to config whether to open in new tabs for search, bookmarks, and URL bar:

browser.search.openintab
browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs
browser.urlbar.openintab

However, there is no configuration for the "Home" button to choose whether opening in new tabs.

Actual results:

When I click the "Home" button, it is always opening in current tab, and there is no configuration for the "Home" button to choose whether opening in new tabs.

Expected results:

I recommend to add a configuration for the "Home" button to choose whether opening in new tabs.

I am all for configuration, but Home navigating the current tab or window to Home is how most every web browser on the planet operates. If the user wants a new tab, they generally choose New Tab instead, and then another setting decides what appears on that tab or window.

I'd actually come here to open my own ticket, to ask that the Home button recently added to Android Firefox, and which behaves as the OP requested, have its functionality reverted to what I described, so it's in line with the way web browsers have always worked. Currently I find the Android Home button mostly useless.
