Details

Note

  • When the user engages in a video call, minimizes the Global Sharing Overlay and then clicks the "Stop Video" button from the WebRTC web-app, to stop sharing the camera, he will notice that the Global Sharing Overlay is not focused/maximized/brought in plain view, as it is on Mac and Windows.

Affected versions

  • Nightly v79.0a1
  • Beta v78.0b8

Affected platforms

  • Ubuntu 18.04.4LTS
  • Ubuntu 20 LTS

Precondidions

  • Set these pref values:
  1. privacy.webrtc.allowSilencingNotifications = true
  2. privacy.webrtc.legacyGlobalIndicator = false

Steps to reproduce

  1. Engage in a (Zoom) video call.
  2. Allow the microphone and camera permission door-hangers.
  3. Minimize the Global Sharing Overlay.
  4. Click the "Stop Video" button from the (Zoom) web-app.

Expected result

  • The camera sharing is being stopped and the Global Sharing Overlay is being brought in focus because the video icon has disappeared.

Actual result

  • The Global Sharing Overlay is not being focused as seen in Windows and Mac.

Regression range

  • This feature only occurs since the new implementation of the Overlay. Minimization wasn't possible with the old design.

Regression range

  • The new Overlay is not displayed at all in Firefox 77 on Linux.
Priority: -- → P3

I am pretty confident that this issue is now irrelevant with the new design modifications.
