See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1062142 etc - for example, do you use any broken antivirus software?
Under Windows 10 Control Panel > Windows Security > Manage Providers > Antivirus:
It appears that McAfee VirusScan is turned on and Windows Defender Antivirus is turned off.
McAfee subscription is current. I'm not sure how I would detect any broken antivirus software.
Thank you for your help/advice.

Do you have any addons installed?
At this point, I am not clear what is causing the freezing issue. There are 2 email accounts being handled by T-bird. The Charter/Spectrum email appears to be working fine. The MSN.com email is first going thru Outlook. I am not sure why that is unless it is because these are both Microsoft products. At any rate, the freezing of T-Bird seems to be while waiting on Outlook to load, sort or doing something I don't understand. The MSN.com account receives tons of spam/junk emails within a couple of hours. Filtering may be a delay.
Another T-Bird problem may be related. While viewing or replying to an email in either account, the screen will suddenly flip back to the T-Bird home page. The page I was on is still open, but I have to toggle back to it. This is a sporadic incident which doesn't happen consistently. so, I am thinking this may be a hardware issue.

Sounds like you need to try running in Windows' safe mode. please post your results.
Resolved per whiteboard
Freezing incidents seem to have subsided. Have run Windows in safe mode. Not sure if there is a connection between the two.
The following is still occurring:
