Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:77.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/77.0

Steps to reproduce:

select a message in my inbox and use the tag pulldown (also tried the right button popup) and tag a message as ToDo.
The message in the message list window turns blue.

This is version 68.9.0 (32 bit)
Windows 7 (up to date)
Intel
My account is IMAP, although I had the same issue when it was POP3

Actual results:

any action after that, like going to another folder or looking at a different message, and the tag goes away. The message is no longer blue and if I search for tags it does not show up. In fact nothing shows up.
I selected two other messages and when I selected the third, the second message lost it's tag.
This has always been my experience with tags in Thunderbird. They have never worked for me.
This, however is the first time I have bothered to report it.

Expected results:

The messages should remain tagged until I untag them.
The messages should show up when I search for tags
I should be able to sort by tags.

Do you still see this when using version 115?

Hi Wayne,

I just did the update. The tags are now persistent. So far I am liking the new release.
Great Job! I am so glad this popped up the priority stack. It is VERY useful.

The one thing that did not work for me was sorting by tags.
I used a couple of different tags and then went to the view->sort. It showed tags as an option but it is grayed out.
What determines if the sort criteria is available?

Thanks,

oops. I quit and restarted Thunderbird. The tags dissapeared. So only useful during a single session. That's too bad.

Who manages the mail server, and what software and version are being used?
