Mozilla crash reason: MOZ_RELEASE_ASSERT(((bool)(__builtin_expect(!!(!NS_FAILED_impl(rv)), 1))))

I guess that's from MOZ_RELEASE_ASSERT(NS_SUCCEEDED(rv)); at the end of the function. I'm not sure what the failure means, exactly. Maybe there's some kind of startup race?

I don't know either what the failure means. It is from bug 1570212.

How did you determine that bug 1570212 is related? It landed almost a year ago, and the crash stack doesn't look like it involves libpref.

Based on comment 1, this might be something pref backend related.

The assertion failure is here. It fails to register a callback for a pref. This can only happen if the registration requires initializing the prefs service (via InitStaticMembers()) and the initialization fails, possibly because shutdown has already occurred?
