Details

This is a tracking bug for bugs that drivers@mozilla.org consider important
to the success of Mozilla 1.2alpha. Please do not change the dependencies
in this bug unless you are a driver.
Alias: 1.2a
Nominating bug 125987
Depends on: streetmap.co.uk
Depends on: 165267
Depends on: 165464
Depends on: 165255
No longer depends on: 165464
I think the following are really important:

Bug 57724 View-source munging pages
This bug makes web development a pain. You cannot see where the problem comes
from. Simply stated: Mozilla lies about what really is on a web page.

Bug 143881 No obvious way to prefill form.
Having this wonderful feature to prefill forms becomes almost useless if it is
so hard to access it.

Bug 63182 Flash plugin context menu doesn't disappear on click, like other right
click menus
Very annoying to have the screen overlayed by a menu.

Bug 110949 Edit draft destoys quotes
This makes the use of the drafts folder useless.

Bug 150036 Message cancelling doesn't work
This is evil. Cancel is one of the most important features of a news reader.

Bug 165199 Trunk build does not start (alert window blocks)
This makes the installation for average users impossible. The cannot get Mozilla
running.

Further, I am wondering about the trunk version number. My understanding is it
should be 1.1+.

pi
Other recent bugs which make the trunk useless in some parts:

165203 Bookmarks manager and sidebar bookmarks tab blank with migrated profile
in classic theme

162593 Force update of compreg.dat (or erase it altogether) during installation

165169 Ctrl+Shift+Home select to beginning (or end) of document doesn't work

and -- already mentioned --
Bug 165199 Trunk build does not start (alert window blocks)

Without those bugs being fixed a release will end up in a flooding of new bug
reports. All those bugs cannot be avoided by average users.

pi
Bug 162593, as mentioned before, is a must fix.
Nominating Bug 54540
Nominating bug 93426
Depends on: 161365
Another embarrasing bug, some characters are not displayed on Linux:
165908 —, – –, and — are displayed as ?

pi
Nominating bug 165169 - Ctrl+[Shift]+Home/End do not work

It is pretty annoying when working in composition window.
Drivers, let's start driving. Some of the nominated bugs here look like recent
regressions, so we should dig into causes and blame, and start demanding fixes.

/be
No longer depends on: 165267
Nomating bug 165901 "Clicking on network/channel name has no effect" in Chatzilla.

nominating another new, and critical, regression: bug 166056 (crash when pasting
unusual characters in URL bar/composer/textarea)

bug 162782 (Can't close first tab, forward broken, URL bar doesn't update -
regression, blocker) is important if it still exists for some.

bug 163086, bug 163088, bug 163089, bug 163092, bug 163093 are all apparently
blockers (update all.js/configure.in for 1.2a etc), are they?

including bug 165199, already mentioned, of course - it's important to be able
to install 1.2a after uninstalling 1.1 or 1.0!
I filed bug 166169 about version string 1.1b in current trunk.

To collect recent regressions mentioned above:

Bug 162593 Force update of compreg.dat (or erase it altogether) during Bug
installation

Bug 162782 Can't close first tab, forward broken, URL bar doesn't update

Bug 165169 Ctrl+Shift+Home select to beginning (or end) of document doesn't work

Bug 165199 Trunk build does not start (alert window blocks)

Bug 165203 Bookmarks manager and sidebar bookmarks tab blank with migrated
profile in classic theme

Bug 165901 Clicking on network/channel name has no effect

Bug 165908 —, – –, and — are displayed as ?

Bug 166056 crash when pasting unusual characters in URL bar/composer/textarea

pi
Bug 153067 [ unable to type text in other applications sometimes when mozilla
is running ]

Made Mozilla 1.1 suck because you have to basically shut down Mozilla to be
able to type in other applications. Due to this also you shut down Mozilla when
you want to shut down OTHER apps.
Yet another recent regression:-(

Bug 166197 Copy and paste (Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v or mark plus mouse paste) don't work

pi
Depends on: 165563
Nominating bug 147322 and bug 165199.
Still one more regression.
Bug 166524 delete key changes line order

Please add all those recent regressions.

pi
Nominating bug 161479. It is very visible for cyrillic users and had many
negative reaction in at least russian speaking world.
I'd line to nominate bug 163648 and bug 163767 as they seem to be very important
to me...
Adding bug 165908 (nominated in comment 7, although only by citing the cryptic
bug summary which doesn't make it clear that it's the entire character
subsitution mechanism that was broken) - a regression of bug 454 which makes
many pages (e.g., New York Times articles) difficult to read on Unix. It also
has a patch that works.

I went through some of the other nominations (up to comment 10), and I'll note
some level of agreement with (although caution that being added to the
dependency list doesn't mean it won't be removed by later discussions):
 * bug 150036, although it would be nice to see the regression date noted more
closely, and, without that, it seems unlikely we'll see a fix with the owner on
vacation
 * bug 165199, except that bug 165199 comment 64 suggests that we should really
be blocked by bug 162593, which I'm adding to the list, pending being told that
a different bug should really be listed
 * bug 165203, adding to list
 * bug 162593, adding to list (see comment before previous)
 * bug 165169, adding to list
 * bug 165901 has already been fixed, so ignoring nomination

Depends on: 166529
I'd like to nominate bug 146490: When creating new users Profile manager cuts
off edges of buttons

A few mac ones:

Clicking on dock should display last minimized/new window: bug 90823.
Hitting Open Web Location with out a new window doens't do anything, bug 84011.

-Brett

P.S. If you're really fired up, you can check in some new OSX icons, bug 88393.

Depends on: 167038
Depends on: 121489
Depends on: 41994
Nominating bug 167228. Crashes any time you click a link that creates a new
window, alert, prompt, whatever. Also crashes when closing the context menu, at
times.
Depends on: 167355
I nominate bug 154699 as :

 "------- Additional Comment #65 From Brian Nesse 2002-08-29 09:29 -------

This patch was not landed on the 1.1 branch, and therefore was not fixed in
Mozilla 1.1. Eventually we will get a new plugin posted on mozilla.org. For now,
I'd download a daily build and pull the plugin out of it."
re comment 24, that's a silly nomination. if it was checked into the trunk after
1.1 branched and it's in the trunk nightlies then when 1.2a is tagged it will
have that fix because 1.2a is based on the trunk and is essentially a stable
trunk nightly.

the 1.2a client.mk was not properly updated; all 1.2a-tag-base builds should be
considered suspect and redone after bug 168227 is resolved.
