RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1644963

People

(Reporter: anna, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to a login field with a saved login
  2. Right click on the field
  3. Click "View Saved Logins"

Actual results:

The Logins page loads and displays ALL logins

Expected results:

When arriving to the Logins page from the "View Saved Logins" link, the Logins page should load with the current page's URL pre-populated into the search field so the page only shows logins for the current URL, not all logins.

My recollection is that the login search worked like this previously (last year?) and now they do not.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Password Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

Hello, this was an intentional change since sometimes the filtered logins would return less logins than were shown in the autocomplete dropdown which was confusing. If the password you wanted to use was saved on another domain e.g. messenger.com vs. facebook.com then it was also scary/confusing to see no logins in about:logins due to the filter. It's sometimes annoying that it doesn't filter anymore but sometimes it's also nice to not have to clear the filter. We think the new way will help more people.
