Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a tab with this URL: https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/rev/31d8600b73dc85b4cdbabf45ac3f1a9c11700d8e/third_party/rust/cubeb-coreaudio/src/backend/mod.rs#686-687
  2. Make sure the window is not large enough to show the entire URL.
  3. While the URL bar is not focused, move the mouse over the URL bar and use the touchpad to scroll the URL field to the end, so that you can see the filename.
  4. Attempt to select the subpath "third_party/rust/cubeb-coreaudio", by double-clicking on "third" and dragging the mouse to the right over "coreaudio".

Expected results:
The double-click + drag selection operation should select the intended part of the URL.

Actual results:
The 31d8600b73dc85b4cdbabf45ac3f1a9c11700d8e hash is selected unintentionally. The text in the URL bar is moved so that the mouse is now over a different part of the URL.

I can reproduce, and it sounds annoying.
On Windows it's possible to simulate it using SHIFT+mousewheel.
