found using 2002.08.27.05 build on OS 10.1.5. i can get a context menu to appear
for a <select> list which lists the options appearing in it.
condition needed: the <select>'s size value must be greater than the number
options listed. it doesn't matter if the multiple attribute is set. here are
some samples:
* the "version" <select> list in
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Chimera
* the "priority" <select> list in http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/query.cgi
* the "cc" <select> list in any bug report where the cc list has 4 or less email
addresses.
to observe this, move the pointer over the whitespace (not where the options
are) in the <select> list and bring up the context menu.
results (several things):
-------
a. you'll get a context menu listing all the options in the <select>. (note: if
you had brought up the menu over an option, you'll just get the regular web page
content context menu with "back", "fwd", etc.)
b. anything that was highlighted in the <select> will have a checkmark in the
context menu. unfortunately i cannot *deselect* items in this menu.
c. anything that was not highlighted in the <select> will not have a checkmark.
unlike (b), however, you can *select* the item and it will then become highlighted.
d. whether i select or attempt to deselect something in this odd context menu
--or even click outside the <select> to attempt to dismiss it-- the regular web
page context menu then appears!
e. when i dimiss the <select>'s menu --or even the web page menu from (d),
selection somehow still remains in the <select>: the highlighting color moves up
and down with mouse movement. i need to double-click in the page content (not in
the <select> region) to get rid of this persistent selection.
it'd be interesting to see if these remain issues under 10.2...
