A family member ran into this issue.
They had two Firefox profiles open in beta Firefox, and another open in Firefox Nightly.
The machine kernel panicked.
After reboot, my family member launched Firefox and was greeted with a dialog stating that "You've launched an older version of Firefox".
This isn't true.

The opened profiles were: "Flash", "default" and "default-nightly".
The default profile for Firefox beta is "default", and the default profile for Nightly is "default-nightly".
Firefox seems to have gotten itself confused somehow.
I have a complete backup of the profiles folder; this is prior to opening Firefox beta with the --downgrade-profile
option - I am reporting this bug in the hopes that we can prevent this from happening to other users.
I am also attaching about:support
from the default beta profile in case that is somehow interesting.

The profiles.ini
file is showing that the default-nightly profile is marked as default for two different installs of Firefox. I'm struggling to think of anything that could happen as the result of a kernel panic that would cause that to be the case by accident. You mention that they were running Firefox beta with two different profiles, how were they launching Firefox like that?

Dave,
The "default" profile is launched by starting Firefox via Spotlight. The second profile is launched by using about:profiles
to "launch profile in new browser" (from the default profile). They never launched any profile other than the "default-nightly" profile in Nightly.
Hope that helps.
