Steps to reproduce:

In MacOS 10.15.5 (19F101) with dark mode enabled. In Thunderbird enable the light theme.

Actual results:

Expected results:

The message pane should use the theme selected as does the rest of the UI.

I can reproduce when using the Adwaita-dark system theme and the Thunderbird Light theme using Thunderbird 78.0b4 on Ubuntu 18.04.4.

Works properly using the default Adwaita system theme and the Thunderbird Light theme.
