User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

Go in Menu -> Add-Ons...
Select Languages, Dictionaries, Plugins or Themes and look for a way to enable or disable them.

Actual results:

Except for the Extensions, I noticed that there is no more option to enable/disable add-ons anymore (Languages, Dictionaries, Plugins and Themes). They don't have a "enable/disable" switch on the upper right corner.

I noticed this with Firefox AND Thunderbird 78 but maybe this ability was already removed before.

This is very annoying on Linux distributions like Fedora for instance that ships Firefox and Thunderbird with all the language packs : Having them all enabled slow down the startup time of the application. Uninstalling them isn't a solution because each time the package is updated the language packs are re-installed.

Also I cannot enable back the add-ons I previously disabled (perhaps I could uninstall/reinstall them but that isn't really user friendly)

Expected results:

All Add-Ons should have a toggle to enable or disable them (like the Extensions). I don't know why this ability was removed.

Hi,I am not able to replicate the issue. I've tried on: win 10 pro and ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS on latest nightly 80.0a1 (2020-07-23) (64-bit)

Can you try this on the latest version of nightly as well? You can download it from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/
I'm attching a screenshot showing the enable/disable toggle in themes section. Can you include an attachment demonstrating the issue? Or give examples of plugins that won't have the toggle button?

I will move this over to a component so developers can take a look over it. If is not the correct component please feel free to change it to an appropriate one.

Thanks for the report.
Best regards, Clara.

Comment on attachment 9165940 [details] no enable/disable toggle I can't find a way to enable or disable add-ons anymore (except in the Extensions). I don't see any button/option for doing it. I noticed that in both Firefox and Thunderbird 78+ but I can't tell since which version this option has disappeared.

Hi pyu,

I was able to reproduce in beta 80.0b1 (64-bit) for windows 10 pro, installing https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/triqui-trs-language-pack/ (it does not let me install in nightly 81.0a1 (2020-07-30) (64-bit) i will find a workaround for it.

I will adjust flag accordingly meanwhile.

Best,
Clara

Hey Mark, do you know if this was by design?

Unless there is an actual reason to not allow disabling, I think we should allow it. Not a big priority though.

I would expect this to work, but appears to have been regressed by the changes to provide enable/disable at the card level. The changes started in a phab stack at https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D51697 for bug 1575905, bug 1570792 and (likely unrelated) bug 1593358.

Attached a patch, but I haven't tested it much. Should likely have some tests so this doesn't get regressed as well.
