User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0
Steps to reproduce:
Updated to 78 version
Actual results:
Two new buttons are shown at the top of Thunderbird window (near minimize, close) - Tasks, Calendar.
Expected results:
As i don't use tasks and calendar in Thunderbird this buttons are not necessary for me and create noisy GUI. I like being able to customize my GUI, so i customize toolbars and remove buttons that i don't need. These buttons are hardcoded and are not removable. I think they should. Or at least there should be some preference to completely disable tasks and calendar options, which would also remove related buttons.

Disable all your calendars (right click them in the list). The buttons are then gone.
I have never used calendars in Thunderbird. Can't figure out where to disable them. Went to calendar tab, right clicked on the only calendar there called "Home", went into its Properties, unchecked Enable This Calendar. It now shows a warning that all calendars are disabled, but buttons are still there. It only removed the Today's pane button in the statusbar.
