TB 78.1.1 has periods of unresponsiveness of about 10 seconds from time to time. During that time, the CPU usage of TB on my non-high-end laptop goes to 13%. The laptop has a i7-8550U 4 core CPU with hyperthreading, so 13% CPU is one thread running at 100%.

I'm aware of bug 1653837 and bug 1657565, maybe this is a duplicate of bug 1658081.

I tried to figure out what it's doing, but I couldn't see anything obvious. The hang is very noticeable since the laptop fan is spinning up and you can't do anything in TB any more.

Gloda is disabled, see below. Any suggestions? I don't think I will run Windows in safe mode ;-)

Here's an anecdote, which may or may not be related: The other day, I ran out of disk space. After rectifying the situation, TB was totally unusable, it hung after a few seconds of usage for much more than the ~10 sec reported here, CPU at 13%. I diagnosed that problem by looking at the activity manager. Looks like it tried to index my Mozilla folder which has about 166.000 messages. Since due to the "disk full" this folder got corrupted, I repaired it and then Gloda sprang back into action. Maybe its SQLite database was also corrupted. In any case, to fix this issue, I disabled Gloda and removed the database. Gloda is disabled until this very day, so the hangs are most likely not caused by Gloda.

https://github.com/thunderbird-conversations/thunderbird-conversations/wiki/Profiling-Conversation's-Performance lists the procedure for getting a profile, if you can determine a way to predict when the blip happens. Only yesterday did I learn that it is working again.
