I recently updated the system cited in bug 1631308 from version 68 to 78. I see in version 78 what I believe is an additional symptom ...
- open compose for the affected account
- tab to body
- type some text
- ctrl+w to close the window
Results: close fails. what should appear is a prompt of whether to save the draft or not.
Perhaps prefs.js is previously damaged in some way. Sending my prefs.js file in separate email
