[Affected versions]:
- Firefox Nightly 81.0a1 (Build ID 20200809213940)
- Firefox Beta 80.0b6 (Build ID 20200807195315);
[Affected Platforms]:
- Windows 10;
[Prerequisites]:
- Have the Firefox Beta 80.0b6 “US” build installed;
- Have the following prefs set in “about:config”:
-- browser.newtabpage.searchTileOverride.amazon.attributionURL: https://topsites.services.mozilla.com/cid/amzn_2020_a1;
-- browser.newtabpage.searchTileOverride.amazon.url: https://www.amazon.com/?tag=admarketus-20&ref=pd_sl_a77559ED8D65ZZAA12%YYYYMMDDHH%;
-- browser.search.region: US;
[Steps to reproduce]:
- Open a new Firefox profile using the build from prerequisites.
- Navigate to the about:config page and set the preferences from prerequisites.
- Open a new tab page.
- Pin all 6 tiles available in the Top Sites section.
- Form the section context menu select the" Add Search Engine option".
- Add the Amazon search engine.
- Observe the top sites tiles behavior.
[Expected result]:
- Amazon URL tile (first position in top sites section) is replaced by the Amazon search engine tile.
[Actual result]:
- The Amazon search engine tile is put in the 7’th position, and the first tile position becomes empty.
[Notes]:
- If we have 8 tiles, all pinned, and following the exact steps from above, we end up with the Amazon search engine tile missing, and the second tile position empty.
