Details
Download manager fails in an unexpected fashion if you 'pause' the save window,
and the modem is disconnected. An error termination is incorrectly reported as
successful status.
Build: Mozilla 1.1b, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.1b)
Gecko/20020830
Builld ID: 2002083008
Reproducible: Yes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start download (say, Windows nightly build on Mozilla page)
2. Go to Download Manager window; select the download status line for the
current downloading file; select 'Properties'
3. On the 'Saving' status popup, click 'Pause'
4. Disconnect modem using system tray icon (Windows XP)
5. Re-establish dialup connection
6. Return to 'save as' popup; click 'Resume'
The 'Saving' status popup disappears
The Download Manager window status line now indicates the entire file is
downloaded
Actual result: Partial file downloaded (unuseable)
Expected result: Either a) resume file transfer and correct status report; or b)
Alert popup when the 'resume' button on the Saving popup is activated and the
Saving popup disappears, and the Download Manager should indicate the download
failed.
It would be nice result: On error termination of the download, the status line
in the download manager would include a (properties popup?) option to re-start
the download. Usually it is handy to re-navigate to the surce page and identify
the desired download; occaisionally this can be tedious or difficult to
re-discover. Download Manager has all the path information, it would be nice to
put that nice information to convenient use.
I am using the default theme.
Note that this behavior has more to do with the ISP line going down while a
large download is 'paused' than a contrived reproduction of the behavior using a
manual disconnect step.
Related bug: 142666, which reports the same error in reporting 100% status and
incomplete file download if the ISP disconnects while not paused. This problem
still exists. The further issue of 142666 of not being able to re-start the
download is not a problem at this time.
looks like a dup of bug 138664, which was dup'ed against general bug 18004
Marking as dup of bug 138664 - this case seems so specific to me that i don't
think it should collect dust in a futured "general" bug.

I think you missed the point of the bug report. Since we know that the download
cannot be resumed -- please correctly report the failure and the reason for the
failure (disconnect).
Please reopen this bug to address the status error in the download manager.
