STR:

  1. Open any website page long enough to scroll it for some time
  2. Notice that smooth scrolling is not smooth anymore. It feels jittery, jerky and not precise.

It feels like it's in UnGoogled Chromium with disabled by default smooth scrolling, so terrible. With enabled smooth scrolling in UnGoogled Chromium ( chrome://flags/#smooth-scrolling ), Firefox is now far far worse with it.

Agree that the scrolling feels very micro-jittery

This behaviour change is intentional, but yes, it may feel more jittery if you're used to the old way. I'm going to dupe this over to the other bug that was filed for the same reason. I'm not yet sure if I should revert the change or try to refine it further. It would be useful if you can let me know if you have any non-default prefs around scrolling/mousewheel behaviour. It would also be useful if you let me know after a day or two of using this new behaviour if you still feel it's jittery, or if you get used to it quickly. Thanks!

I don't have any non-default prefs scrolling/mousewheel behavior set in about:config in Mozilla Firefox. After few days of using it, I fully confirm my before statement, that this change causes proper working smooth scrolling to be unsmooth, jittery, jerky and not precise, which end feels much more terrible, than using browsers without smooth scrolling enabled like it's by default in UnGoogled Chromium. I will never ever get used to it.
Thankfully these changes were reverted and smooth scrolling is working now properly for few days. I would suggest leaving these preferences alone, as "better" is the enemy of the good.
What's more, if someone want to have faster scrolling, there is option to disable smooth scrolling in Mozilla Firefox options.

ni so you will see my reply.
