Did yo try Thunderbird 78?
This certainly doesn't happen for the normal case, so you'll need to figure out why it's different for this event or for your settings.
Component: Untriaged → E-mail based Scheduling (iTIP/iMIP)
Product: Thunderbird → Calendar
Version: 68 → unspecified
