Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0

Steps to reproduce:

I have 4 monitors using two NVIDIA GT710 cards and Xinerama on Linux. With Firefox versions after 52.9.0 attempting to move a tab crashes firefox and often crashed KDE requiring a re-login, and sometime causes a system reboot. Firefox version 52.9.0 and earlier did not have this problem. If I do not run Xinerama tabs move just fine (but I don't have 4 monitors). I have tested this with mutiple Linux kernels, multiple NVIDIA cards (710 and 730) and multiple NVIDIA drivers.

Actual results:

NVIDIA driver with 4 monitors and xinerama crashes firefox and often crashed KDE requiring a re-login, and sometime causes a system reboot.

Expected results:

Tab should have been movable to somewhere on the same monitor or a different monitor, as it still does with 52.9.0

Hi Mark,

Thanks for reporting this issue and for specifying the versions it happens.

Can you check if this is also reproducible on Firefox Nightly version? You can download it from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/.

I'll add this ticket to the Widget gtk component in the hope someone from their team can take a look at this and comment.

Regards,
Virginia

Tried nightly download version 82.0a1. Same problem. Moving the tab crashes Firefox. Note that this only happens when running Xinerama (NVIDIA).

Do you have the contents of about:crashes?

often crashed KDE requiring a re-login

This points to a driver bug, not a Firefox bug.
