User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:80.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/80.0
Steps to reproduce:
Open Thunderbird on Fedora Linux
Actual results:
(Multiple) window(s) appear with the title "Add a new address book". The pre filled Selected name is: Recently contacted (see screenshot).
Expected results:
No such window, or a clear explanation why this window appears. As it happens now, I am confused and do not know what to do. Was the suggested address book somehow detected on an GNOME Online Account?
The
I see that the new address book comes from Nextcloud. In GNOME Evolution, I also see a new Address book.
The details show:
Name: "Recently contacted"
URL: https://<redacted>/nextcloud/remote.php/carddav/addressbooks/jan/z-app-generated--contactsinteraction--recent/
So, this explains the pop up of the window. I would suggest to rework the window and provide more information to the user about what happened.
Maybe something like:
"A new address book was detected and will be added to Thunderbird. Adjust or accept the properties as shown below".
Maybe there should also be an option to not add the newly detected address book to Thunderbird. If you currently click Cancel, the window will appear again (after a restart of Thunderbird). On one system I had around five of these windows that were automatically opened simultaneously (maybe not at the same time, but over a time period when I left these windows open because I did not know what to do with them).

I think that the "Add a new address book" window is spawn by the cardbook Thunderbird extension: https://cardbook.icu/forum/

Do you see the problem when restarting in safe mode using Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled?
@WaltS48: I cannot test this any more, I think, because I added the address to Thunderbird now.
At a certain point in time I had 16 of the described windows opened after some time, so I decided to add the discovered new Nextcloud address book to Thunderbird.
So, probably this issue is more related to the CardBook addin than to Thunderbird. Feel free to close this issue if you think that that is appropriate.
