Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Logged in to streetsmart.cyclomedia.com
  2. Visited various coordinates (most often by indicating easting/northing)
  3. Most of the time all is ok, but sometimes, it freezes. When this happens the entire Firefox UI is frozen, i.e. impossible (or very slow) to change tabs, open Web Console, etc.

Actual results:

  1. it freezes. During the freeze, Firefox does not react at all or very slowly. I.e. not possible to switch to other tabs, or to open debugging tools such as web console.
  2. after a couple of minutes it comes back to life.

Expected results:

  1. at worst, a misbehaving app should be able to freeze its own tab, but not the entire UI. Access to debugging tools such as Web Console should always stay possible.

Hey Alain,

I tried reproducing your issue but i do not have an account for this site and i cannot find a register page.

Can you test the issue while in Safe Mode. You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .

Also a fresh new profile could help. You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .

If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .

Hi Andrei,

Unfortunately, the issue occurs rather randomly / not in a reproducible way. Sometimes it occurs several times per day, and on some other days not at all. So reproducing this in safe mode (or in an empty profile) would force me to run everything (not just cyclomedia) in safe mode, which would impact my productivity in a rather drastic way.

Setting a component for this issue in order to get the dev team involved.
If you feel it's an incorrect one please feel free to change it to a more appropriate one.

Hi Alain, thanks for reporting. Can you please check if this happens also with newer versions of Firefox (assuming you are on 68 ESR as of your report) ? Thank you

Also, a profile using https://profiler.firefox.com/ when it happens will probably be super-useful!

Could you give some more words about how to use this https://profiler.firefox.com/ ?
