Steps to reproduce:

thunderbird did get an update t 68.12.0 '32bit'
since the update there is a problem to "view" attachments,

Actual results:

after opening an email
thunderbrid does lock-up when opening a file that is attached to an email
(as well receive/send)
on all occasions when trying to get out i see the message
a script is running - chrome://messenger/content/toolbarIconColor.js:83

the only way to get out is to "stop/kill" the program using "task-control" - wind10

Expected results:

the file should open with the expected 'viewer'

note: it is still possible to save the 'attached' files,
note: when thunderbird is in lock-up the windows-verkenner seems locked as well

Please try Thunderbird 78.

To my surprise the "thuderbird-updater" has installed automatically the version 78.2.3 altough the system states,
this should only be possible by "download" - which i did not request !!!
please investigate this strange mismatch vis-a-vis your own standard for "secure" updates,

Thunderbird version 78.2.2 is only offered as direct download from thunderbird.net and not as an upgrade from Thunderbird version 68 or earlier. A future release will provide updates from earlier versions. Automatic updates are available for users already running version 78.0 or higher.

Meanwhile i am confronted with an integration issue with MS-office products eg: Word
when asking via Thunderbird to open a word document - without MSWord loaded
then the message in dutch is:
"De opdracht kan niet worden uitgevoerd, omdat er een dialoogvenster is geopend. Sluit het dialoogvenster om door te gaan."
after clicking the OK button the document is opened by Word.
i did not find a method to attached a file/image to show this issue

about the integraton issue: the problem might be an inside for MS-office 2019
i did execute a test with MS-word 2007 - the warning message did not occur,
note that the current ms-office2019 opens with a dialog version, where one should select: "new" "open" . . .
the older versions did start directly with the document

about the isssue - lock when opening files:

• due to the automatic update which i could not prevent,
• i was not able to prepare a set of emails that did show the error,

after the auto-install of version 78.2.2 i can not reproduce the issue,

i will comment when the issue might appear with version 78.2.2

We've now indeed started upgrading 68 users to 78.2.2 (since 68 is EOL next week).
