With Mozilla 1.0 (as well as older versions) I'm unable to connect to
http://www.software.hp.com/. I get the response "Bad request
Error 400:
Your browser sent a message this server couldn't understand."
(Using Lynx 2.8.4rel.1 I get the page, and Lynx reveals:
Linkname: buy, try, demo and download software online
URL: http://www.software.hp.com/
Charset: iso-8859-1
Server: Netscape-Enterprise/4.1
Date: Tue, 03 Sep 2002 09:10:41 GMT
Last Mod: Tue, 03 Sep 2002 03:15:09 GMT
Owner(s): None
size: 91 lines
mode: normal
With KDE I can also access the site)
I understand that possibly the other end (i.e. HP) is broken, but it would be
helpful to get some details out of mozilla about the problem.

wfm using build 20020902 on Win2k (trunk).
Can you try Mozilla 1.0.1RC2 or 1.1 ?

In Mozilla 1.0, make sure that Pipelining is switched off (Preferences ->
Advanced -> HTTP Networking).

The page loads ok on my Moz 1.1 on W2K with or without pipelining.

In 1.0 (2002061910-SuSE) turning off pipelining did not help. However I did not
restart the browser. Can someone explain what's going on?

Meanwhile I even restarted mozilla, but without success. I reduced all advanced
HTTP options step by step back to HTTP 1.0, but still the error appears.

Are you using a Mozilla.org 1.0 build or a SuSE build?
(Are SuSEs mozilla builds are patched? .. do they exist?!)
You did get the same error with lynx? - Looks like a temporary webserver problem..
Maybe konquerer used data from cache.. (..or did some voodoo magic ;) )

Using Mozilla
Mozilla 1.0.1 [Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020903]
I had no problems. However HP may have changed the site or server since the
original report.

Using nightly 2002110822 on solaris/sparc. I can't reproduce the problem either.
Reporter says it currently working.
Ulrich, if the problem reappears, please feel free to reopen this.

Verified works for me, though the site seems to have a very slow server.
