User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/85.0.4183.102 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

I searched for emails from a particular email address.

Actual results:

A list was produced. I clicked on one of them but do not see the email.

Expected results:

I should have been able to see that conversation, but it is missing.

Unfortunate, but does happen. Described in bug 1328098.

I've never found a permanent solution.

When you say "A list was produced. "
Do you mean 1) the initial global search result which shows a portion of message OR do you mean 2) you has clicked on 'Open email as list' to produce a list. Which of these 'lists' are you talking about?
In initial list 1) click on email - does it open?
If yes, it opens ok in 1) does it fail to open when you see in list 2) ?

You would expect an email in search result to open, but that assumes the email exists.
Does the email actually exist ? Locate that email manually (not via a search) and select to open, does it open?
If yes, I can locate and open it manually, then it would be same bug as mentioned, but if email does not exist, then it suggests the global database may be out of sync.
Please rebuild the global database and then perform search again.
