User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:80.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/80.0
Steps to reproduce:
Install Thunderbird.
Configure E-Mail.
Actual results:
Welcome page vanished and could not be found again.
Expected results:
On the welcome page there are several items. People expect they can click all of those items one by one. Welcome page therefore should stay visible or at least it should be possible to bring it up again easily.

The one that opens in the browser or the Start page?
Options > General > Thunderbird start page.
if you meant the one that opens in the browser you should be able to find that in your browser history. You might want to bookmark it.
There is a very similar page if you activate the account itself instead of the inbox. So Thunderbird should display this page after account creation. That would resolve user confusion.

What you are referring to we call "Account Central", displayed when you click on an account in the left pane.
It does tend to not be shown after you create an account.

Reporter,
So the object here is that after creating an account, Thunderbird goes back to Account Central so the user can continue creating more accounts, or work with the newly created accounts settings, or write a new message, or create a filter. or search messages, or setup end to end encryption?
Selecting "Read messages" will take the user to the accounts Inbox.
That sounds about right! :-) BTW Thank you very much for this really helpful discussion.

That would be convenient for new users and candidate testers.

Mh, that's a good point.
I don't have a strong opinion on this as I'm not sure what might be the expected behavior for the majority of the users.
Maybe some users expect the application to automatically select the inbox and download the messages after first setup, while others prefer to stay on the same page and continue setting other things up.
This "potential" issue could be mostly solved with the implementation of a better email wizard, which prompts the user upon completion if they want to configure a calendar, import contacts, enable encryption, etc.
Something like that will come before the next ESR, and all the account creation dialogs will be integrated into a tab, to better control the workflow.

Sounds great!

A new account wizard with next steps and a better flow has been implemented in 91 in bug 1697575.
This can be closed.
