Actual results:

2020 - displayed ok
^ - NOT DISPLAYED,
09 - display as small text upper aligned

please see attached screenshot.

Expected results:

Text should be displayed as entered:

2020^09

Component: Mail Window Front End → Composition
Product: Thunderbird → MailNews Core

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

You can disable "glyph substitution" in the options.

Menu:

Tools -> Options -> *Genaral*
  => Language & Appearance
   => Plain Text Messages
    => [ ] Display emoticons as graphics

I dupe this to bug 273747 because bug 289241 is also a dupe of it.
