Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:82.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/82.0

Steps to reproduce:

Over the last week or so Firefox 82 nightl has randomly froze and hung constantly when opening new windows or tabs.

Void Linux 5.8.3

Actual results:

A blank page or tab opens and every Firefox window quits responding

Expected results:

The brower doesn't hang

My home page and new tab are both "about:blank"

Flags: needinfo?(zlice555)

The only thing that seems to apply is "places.sqlite to places.sqlite.old"

places.sqlite-journal
does not exist

sessionstorejs
does not exist (sessionstore
jsonlz4 does?)

It did not happen much yesterday, but it varies between nightly updates.

And as soon as I left this comment and tried to open a new window (after renaming places.sqlite) - hang

Updated to 83. Still freezing randomly on new windows/tabs.

Hey Zlice,
Can you try testing it on a fresh new profile for a while? You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .
Or even see if the issue happens while in Safe Mode for a couple of days. You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .

Going to keep going for now. Had a day without a hitch after an update.
If it comes back I'll try to create a new profile. I've only had to do that once over the years.

Been a few days without a hang like this.

Seems to have been fixed.
