Steps to reproduce:

I opened the Thunderbird 78.3.1 inbox to display a list of all unread emails. As I worked my way down the list by clicking on certain emails, occasionally certain "read" emails would return from a "read state" back to an "unread state with bold type". Even if I continued to click on the "previously read" email that had returned itself to an "unread state" it would briefly change itself to "read" and then revert back to the "unread state with bold type".

Actual results:

Some previously read messages return themselves to an unread state.

Expected results:

The certain previously read email should have stayed in a read state without bold type.
