Sometime on September 10 upstream picked up some changes we have trouble importing. Let's update to just before then, to get all the easy stuff done, and it's easier to suss out just what needs to change on our side to update further.

Did some more work on a little bit of extra change on September 10, and with those extra changes in place the script will straightforwardly update to tip again. So let's broaden this bug to cover all the update-breaking changes.
