While Mozilla is running, also in background, the CPU-Load goes to the maximum.
Mozilla takes all the load. Appears with Version 1.1 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U;
Windows NT 5.0; de-AT; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826. The previous version does not
push the load.
Does mozilla always use all available CPU, or is it only when displaying certain
pages? Do you have HTTP pipelining enabled?
There are a lot of CPU related bugs saying that Mozilla slows down when doing
this or that, but the truth is, 1.1 seems to eat all the CPU no matter what you
do. Any significant action triggers it with some probability: open a page,
compose a new email message, open preferences... There must be one underlying
problem for all of this.
I haven't tried the really recent builds, since all the CPU related bugs are
still open.

Is there a single bug that we can DUP all of these general CPU-load bugs to?
There are quite a few of them, and we should try to consolidate.
I'm seeing nearly 100% CPU util. with moz 1.1 quite a bit on Win2K (SP3).
Sometimes with flash 6 ads but often without - just browsing gets it going.
Just checking my mail at Yahoo does it a lot too.
I've also quit out of mozilla via "file-> exit" and noticed the 99% cpu
utilization on task manager which reported mozilla still running as a process.
Had to shut it down there to get my cpu back.
I've got Netscape 7 loaded for comparison and haven't noticed it there yet.

Unless you can give us a specific URL or a attachment that's a testcase, and
then a series of steps to reproduce the bug, there's no way for an engineer to
fix the bug.
We appreciate your help, we just need more information. Also, make sure that you
can reproduce this bug on a recenty _nightly_ build, available easily from
http://www.mozillazine.org .

Actually, i haven't seen with 1.2 beta or later. It seems that i has been
resolved in one way or another.
