Using build 2002090508, though I have seen this problem in recent previous builds... Emails that are received in HTML format are not displayed in HTML, but rather some odd parsing scheme. For example, I sent myself a message, in HTML, containing the following: ------------------------------------- Testing bold. Testing italic. Testing color. Testing font. -------------------------------------- Where each line demonstrated the named formatting effect; what I received was, literally: -------------------------------------- *Testing bold.* /Testing italic./ Testing color. Testing font. -------------------------------------- I have checked all of my composition options, and set my email address to "prefers to receive in HTML format", etc. etc... there doesn't seem to be a work-around. Seems as if the MailNews HTML renderer is busted.
Reporter, have you selected View -> Message Body As -> Plain Text? That would cause the described behavior.
I checked that setting, and that fixed the problem. Don't know how it got changed, as I didn't even know it was there... oh well. Please close this bug (not sure if I am supposed to do that or not).
Marking invalid.
