Steps to reproduce:
the wrongly shown message in thunderbird "invalid security certificate" pops up, when the the windows 10 network connections are down (my profile is on a server).
as soon as i renew these network connections the thunderbird-messages don't show again, at least for a certain time.
after a while they show up again and i have to renew the network connections again.
this i very annoying.

Expected results:
once the network connections in windows 10 are set they should stay stable.

No, your internet provider or local router might reconnect Thunderbird's connection attempt to some other place, hence Thunderbird correctly shows you a warning.

the above pictured problem seems finally resolved - after the latest windows 10 (2004) update (KB4579311).
since months it annoyed on an hourly base, therefore i supposed it was a problem of thunderbird.
UPDATE
it was not the windows update which fixed the problem, but the windows defender was the culpable app.
just exclude the folder(s) of your thunderbird profile(s) in the windows 10 defender, and thunderbird's start-up will accelerate hugely, and the wrongly shown message of "invalid security certificate" doesn't appear any more.

wrong victory over this problem: the de-connection of the network continues, after excluding the thunderbird profiles from windows defender and after a new update of windows 10 (20H0).
all stays the same again, as if nothing has happened - there must be an REAL problem between thunderbird and windows which is not solved at all.
very annoying ...
additionally, the forgotten passwords came back - it's now worse than before
four months later, and with thunderbird 78.7.1 (64-bit) thunderbird is as vulnerable as before:
it still loses passwords in irregular intervals!
it must have to do with windows 10 (64-bit, 20H2), at least nothing has changed in the last months.
