Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start watching a video on youtube (second monitor)
  2. Change tab - and stay on that tab for a while (probably 1 minute is enough)
  3. Click tab to the one playing youtube.

The issue is easy to reproduce using this video (1080p) for some reason - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEMd2hvEA48

Actual results:

Video is Green for a small amount of time. (up to 1 second)

Expected results:

Video should continue without being green for a small amount of time.

Forgot to say I'm on Wayland, using Firefox Wayland, mesa 20.2.0, and have the following config changes:

  • media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled is true
  • media.ffvpx.enabled is false
  • gfx.webrender.all is true
  • fission.autostart is true

True, I'm using an AMD 5700XT. I think this started happening since wayland/x11 VAAPI code got merged, it's not from a recent change.

The issue occurs a lot when using picture-in-picture mode on Xorg with EGL backend + VAAPI. It's still unchanged with 86 beta 3.

Is this issue known to Robert Mader or Martin Stransky?

This should have been fixed by bug 1684194 (Firefox 88).
