Thank you for the report! There isn't much information available in that error message, unfortunately. Please try using a full installer for Developer Edition, if that still doesn't work it may give a more informative error message.

Hi Adam,
the full installation worked.
while this has resolved my installation related issue, please let me know if there is any other information I can provide regarding the "hmm, for some reason...." issue.

Thanks for following up, I'm glad a full install worked!
With the progress bar near the end, the error would most likely mean that the installer timed out. Is this being run on a particularly slow computer? Did it take a long time (over two minutes) before the error appeared?

needinfo to formalize request for more info. I suspect that this may have been due to a timeout due to the install taking too long.

hi, apologies for the delayed response.
over 2 mins: could be.
slow computer: i am not sure about this, the system is i5 with 16 GB ram.
slow internet: no i am able to download the full installer within 30-45 seconds. internet speed is decent averaging around 40 Mbps.
I had to uninstall Firefox as launching it would render my machine in a hung state. even after relaunching/resetting firefox or restarting the system unresponsive issue is still there.

S4 since we haven't seen similar reports. Given the failing stub installation and then the unresponsive Firefox after a successful full installation, this doesn't sound like an installer issue per se.
