There is a firefox logo on the newtab page which only shows if there is nothing but search selected. We'd like to be able to control this logo more, and perhaps have it show when search and top sites are both selected. We would also like to do an experiment with this logo, so having it show when a pref is flipped is necessary.

I have verified that if the "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.logowordmark.alwaysVisible" pref value is set to "true" a Firefox logo is correctly displayed on the "about:newtab" page using Firefox Nightly 84.0a1 (Build ID: 20201116094341) on Windows 10 x64, macOS 10.15.6, and Ubuntu Linux 20.04 x64.

I have also verified the following:

  1. The Firefox logo persists through multiple "about:newtab" pages.
  2. The Firefox logo persists through a browser restart.
  3. If the "Web Search" from the "about:preferences#home" page is unchecked, the Firefox logo will not be displayed.
  4. If any or all the following sections are disabled, the Firefox logo is correctly displayed: "Top Sites", "Recommended by Pocket", "Highlights", or "Snippets".
  5. If the pref is flipped back to "false" the Firefox logo will correctly not be displayed anymore.
