If you have an inline png image with transparent background, it appears that the background hue has a slight offset compared to 'body bgcolor'. You can see in the attached example that there will be a square behind the "Mozilla" text. I saved the png image with GIMP, and didn't change any of the default options for png. You can see what the options are at the attached file gimp-save.png

No comments on this...? I post a screenshot. You can see there that the background is speckled all over, although the image itself doesn't look that way. It's done somewhere in the layout process.
Can someone look at this? Probably Bug 156875 should be marked as dup?
Severity: trivial → normal
This happens not only with transparent images, I noticed. A solid background gets the same scattered dots.
Summary: Small background hue offset for transparent png images → png images gets speckled
Same thing when I convert the png to jpg (with best quality). To conclude: format or transparency doesn't seem to make any difference. It happens on pictures with solid backgrounds, transparent or not. Is the layout engine broken somehow?

Reporter can you reproduce this bug with a newer build (1.4 final)? If not, then please close this bug as worksforme. Thanks.
