RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1650312

People

(Reporter: oliver, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

I wanted to use a strong random generated password.

Actual results:

I am offered a relativily short simple random password.

Expected results:

I should have been getting the option, of what kind of password I want generated. Alternatively, I want a configuration option, that allows me to configure the password generation strength. E.g. I want to be able to generate strong, 64 character long passwords.

Note, that some sites have certain filters that won't allow you to use really strong passwords, so a secondary input methodology may be needed (e.g. generate strong password, generate somewhat strong password)

Component: Untriaged → Password Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

Thanks for filing. Yes, it would useful to have some options around the kind of passwords we generate. We've erred on the side of a simple UI currently, but are watching this space carefully. I'm going to dupe this bug to a similar request in bug 1650312.
