Steps to reproduce:

New email received

Actual results:

SPam folder contains new messages (in bold)

Expected results:

Spam folder contains new messages marked as read by default (not in bold!)

If you're talking about the Thunderbird junk controls, check the Preferences - there is a setting for that.
If it's something the server moved to Spam - nothing we can/should do about that.
