I agree with Asa. Should be possible to put progress into location bar, since extensions are causing bugs here and they're slowing down browsers (that's a fact :( ).

I think this is a very sensible feature, especially now that Firefox doesn't use a colored background for SSL in the urlbar. Things have changed a lot since 2002. According to AMO, the Fission extension that does this has been downloaded 812,467 times...

Also, parity-safari?

Someone who can re-open this bug?
Browsers have had an evolution and this is less space consuming in the Status bar.

Fission is regularly downloaded since the last post in this topic: 1843232 times now (that is more than a million downloads in SIX MONTHS!)
The developer of Fission doesn't have the time for his extension: see http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=594322 etc-> developer wanted
is it not possible to implement this extension in Firefox, work has already been done, so?

As seen in this image from the Firefox UI team they have found something better
And for every tab it is visible whether it is on the background or not.

Safari has this also not anymore since 4.0

I'm no voter for this bug anymore.
But I hope they will implement this in the Firefox 4.0 new theme.
