167424 - Picture and Sound screen saver freaks out with new mail

Hi All,

    I am running w2k pro, sp3 and Mozilla 1.1.0,20020826 with
Joel Technologies "Picture and Sound" screen saver, V 3.1.  It can
be downloaded from

    Problem:  when the screen saver is active and I receive new 
mail, the screen saver freeks out.  It rapidly runs through
most of the pictures in its picture directory without eraseing
between pictures and makes a general mess of things.  After wiggling 
the mouse or touching a key, the regular screen comes back without 
a problem.

This is at best an evangelism bug for this particular screensaver program. It
may be the way that this particular screensaver takes over the windows
environment that causes the problem. "You have new mail" is a priority notice,
so it tends to take control, even if you don't want it to.

   The author of the screen saver has posted a patch (rev. 3.1b) that
works perfectly with my Mozilla 1.1.  3.1b can be downloaded at
