I just downloaded Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020908 In previous versions, the program icon was a blue "sea-monkey" like thing. Now, it appears to be some red "Mozilla" head against a light blue background. My claim that the icon is ugly may be tenuous. However, it clashes with the standard Win98 desktop and also several Linux ones. The claim that it is out of place seems more substantial. Mozilla ships with two default themes - classic and modern. In neither of these is red a frequently used color. Icon colors should match a program's default color scheme; being "cute" degrades the mental association between an icon and its program and should be avoided. Yes, the old icon may have needed some work, but the new one is worse.
intentional change. not a bug.

intentional or not, its still a flaw

-> wontfix Since Mozilla is only for testing (not for End-Users) you can easy change the icon if you don't like the new one.

"Only for Testing"? What are we testing? That mozilla works? So its purpose is to allow us to test it? I thought its purpose was to be a standards based extensible web browser. And when we ask our bosses to test it and they see the red dinosaur head and they say "well it looks like a toy and it isn't from M$ so I'm afraid not..." does that mean the test failed?
And the justification for not making the red dinosaur head on the icon match the Netscape Comminicator icon on the running program? (both of which are a step back from the gecko icon) At least be consistently ugly.
