User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_6) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/12.1.2 Safari/605.1.15

Steps to reproduce:

If we copy library files, 70% of the times you don't keep the same setting like i used before.

no matter which firefox, if normal, esr, beta, bev, nightly, nightly unofficial; no matter which mac, mac user, firefox account or macos. No matter which firefox version too (even if both firefox are the same, once i copy from user a to b). like i told you. in some user you show me all setting correctly maybe after 20 restart (after 1 week), in other not. same for type of firefox. sometimes in one user dev works correctly after 1 week, in the other user not (even after 4 months). same for other browser too.

Problem: extensions are not showed, you show only 20%. it tooks so much time to get the correct extension setting. if i copy library folder in other browser, i generally get my extension in just 1 sec (except brave and few others).

sometimes in one user dev works correctly after 1 week, in the other user not (even after 4 months). same for other browser too.

this means (for example)

user a
normal yes
dev yes
beta yes
nightly yes
nightly unoff no
esr no

user no
normal no
dev yes
beta yes
nightly no
nightly unoff yes
esr no

*user b, not user no xD

Unfortunately this report is not very useful because it does not describe the problem well. If you have time and can still reproduce the problem, please read https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines and add a more useful description to this report, by providing clear and specific steps to reproduce, as a list, step by step. Thanks.

what step do i need to provide. library copy is always the same with every browser and mac app.

you visit /library/applicationsupport/firefox/profiles/.... on user a and you copy all files inside the esr profile for example.

then you go to another user, you launch esr, you delete all files inside esr and you replace with the files of the other user.

this is all what you need to do (and be sure you change permission before doing that).

again, 70% of the time you create such problem, where you simply show 0 extensions for various hours after first launch, then you start to add some, and then you still keep few extension on the vast majority of profile (or you add the extension like i configured it on the first user, but only after different hours, different macos relaunch or firefox relaunch). if i paste library files and launch firefox, i want to see my extension ready do use in max 5 minutes, and not after 7 days or maybe never.

again, it's happen only with you.

Firefox already provides a way to do that, i.e. Firefox Sync. Why not simply use that?

because if you read the other bug, you have problem even with this, plus there are other reason why using library files is much better, especially if you use need to configure a lot of firefox accounts.

i already reported to you such problems multiple times in the last 2 years via firefox app, and you still offers us the same problems again.

I need your confirmation on a couple of things before succeeding in reproducing this issue. My understanding from this comment is that you simply copy the profile folder of a Firefox instance and open it in another Mac user, is that what you do? Are you copying the entire profile folder or just parts of it?
After placing the folders on the new Mac user, are you doing this with an open Firefox? Are you doing any restart in the meantime?
Are you having issues with the extensions that are not copied, or other things too (bookmarks, logins, other settings)? Can you give an example of such an extension (please also mention the Firefox version you last had is installed and the new Firefox version you are seeing the issue on - e.g from Nightly to Release)?

ok at the moment i retested and i don't see the problem https://k00.fr/firefoxlibrary

BUT i need to test it on more macs, macos, and mac user to confirm that you really fix it with last version.

about beta it was impossible https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1675736

i use esr to check sync problem https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1674567 (soon) plus the fact i don't remember in which user i saved esr default templates...

firefox is always close during replace. now i need to wait before i see the first extension inside nightly unofficial, then i add the picture to koofr. please not that the exact problem i show you with such app was available in all firefox app until now too.

ok now you can see comparison, but remember that the extensions are not always the same (sometime i see much less extension too). on other user it take much more than 10+ minutes and for example extensions in the bookmark bar are not showed too.

again i will rewrite, once i tested it with more users.

tested it on another macuser on the same mac, all profiles was ok except esr (which was old version). so it seems last version fixed the issue once at all after years of errors. i will still try on other mac and macuser soon, before i confirm it 100%

if i replace esr, you say that, which doesn't make any sense. why do you consider the browser as older version, if the browser has the last version...

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.
