Currently, if a question or answer contains a link, the post is held for moderator approval.

Questions and any answers by the question owner should not be held for moderator approval. The only circumstance in which that would approve a post by a scammer is if the scammer started the thread. Each thread is well isolated, and if a scammer starts a new thread, we don't have to worry about other users getting a notification.

It also prevents the filter from affecting the AAQ.

The question owner is already exempted from the link filter, but only in their initial post. If the same link is posted by the question owner as a reply, the post is held for moderator approval. I tested this with a standard SuMo user account: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1311997

In some cases this causes users to make multiple posts because their posts aren't being honored - for example https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1297823

And also in cases where a user posts their Troubleshooting information.

This prevents timely assistance, and user frustration.

Chris pointed out that the posters I saw in that topic who got labeled as spam were not the owner of the topic.
